Köykkyr recreation area
The Köykkyr recreation area is located in Honkasse, near Zeppelin, and is a centre for many species and nature sports. Köykkyr has an outdoor gym and the longest fitness stairs in the Oulu region, which are open during the thaw.
Köykkyri offers a wide range of sporting activities all year round, such as mountain biking, frisbee golf, beach volleyball, cross-country running, drill training, football or just a nice outdoor activity. In winter, the area is known as Finland's smallest ski resort and a good skiing destination. The area has around 12 km of illuminated ski slopes and newly completed cross-country skiing tracks of world championship level. Alongside the tracks is the Marjakammi, a pond suitable for windsurfing, and, one kilometre from Lake Mourunk, the Linnunradan alpaca farm, which has a ski café in the winter season. The ski resort has one illuminated main slope, a ski lift and a snowpark.
The area has been given a guided cross-country route, called the Köykkyr Hiking Trail. The main users are mountain bikers, hikers and trail runners.
